“This is who I am. This is what I want. Now I need a man dangerous enough to give it to me.”

Graduate student Vivienne Charles is afraid of her own desires—ashamed to admit that she fantasizes about being taken by force, by a man who will claim her completely and without mercy. When the magnetic, mysterious Jonah Marks learns her secret, he makes an offer that stuns her: they will remain near-strangers to each other, and meet in secret so that he can fulfill her fantasy.

Their arrangement is twisted. The sex is incredible. And—despite their attempts to stay apart—soon their emotions are bound together as tightly as the rope around Vivienne’s wrists. But the secrets in their pasts threaten to turn their affair even darker...

Miranda’s Review

Reader Beware: Subject matter my cause triggers for people who are survivors of rape, domestic abuse, and other related traumas.

This book is the epitome of your kink is not my kink and that’s okay. Asking For It by Lilah Pace takes you into the darkest recesses of erotica and beyond. Where reality and fantasy collide in an erotic juxtaposition.

“The only possible partner for these games is someone as bent as I am.”

Vivienne struggles with her desires. The one thing she wants more than anything is also the one thing that makes her question her own morality. With a twisted past, I hardly blame her for the urges she has — her fantasy. A lot of women (and men) who have been raped feel the need to recreate the scenario for many reasons. Vivienne’s fantasy is twisted into her own personal hell. She can’t find satisfaction with any of her lovers unless she retreats into her own mind and imagines unspeakable things being done to her.

A betrayal of the worst kind brought Vivienne all the things she desired…

“My fragility, his strength.”

Jonah has been twisted into the perfect counterpart to Vivienne. She wants to lose control and he wants to take it — by force. I love Jonah’s character. He is all of the most perfect qualities I look for in a BBF. He’s aloof yet caring, he is strong both inside and out, he’s got a firm respect for women despite his desires. There are distinct lines that he would never, ever cross. He wants to overpower and rape, yet only a woman that is willing.

“You’ve always shown me so much trust, Vivienne. More than any other woman ever has. However slowly you need to take this, it’s up to you. Always. All right?”

This book is an emotional rollercoaster. There are moments when I wanted to bail, I won’t lie, and it wasn’t even when Jonah and Vivienne played their games. It was incredibly difficult to read how very much Vivienne hated herself for wanting the rape fantasy. How much she felt defective and twisted because she only desired the fantasy to the point she had to imagine it even while she touched herself. She broke my heart. And Jonah, the gentleness he showed her, the understanding — he was exactly what she needed and was exactly what I needed as a reader to live inside their world.

“How did this man with the power to terrify me also become the one person who truly makes me feel safe?”

If you’re brave enough to go on this journey with Jonah and Vivienne you won’t regret it — you’ll hurt for them, with them. It’s impossible to not want that happily ever after for them, no matter how they have to get it. Four Stars for storyline and Five Darkly Erotic Wet Panties.

“… the best love is two solitudes that border, protect, and greet one another?”

About Lilah Pace

Lilah Pace is a pseudonym for a New York Times bestselling author, so she can’t give away too much about herself here, but she has lived everywhere from Italy to the United Kingdom before putting down roots in the American South.

She’s addicted to Diet Coke, loves her dog, and daydreams about several British movie stars (though usually no more than two at a time).

And while it took her a long while to get up the courage to write books, now she hopes she’ll never stop.
