In order to survive a life of tragedy, Deacon McConnell embraced his roughest edges and learned to fight on the streets. Then a life-changing jujitsu seminar led by Sensei Ronin Black led Deacon to become a professional fighter. With his muscular physique and his body covered in tattoos and scars, the MMA fighter defines mean, both on and off the mat.
But everything changes when innocent Molly Calloway signs up for his kickboxing class. Molly is Deacon’s opposite in every way: She’s kind, sweet, thoughtful, and educated. After a heated argument between them turns into a passionate encounter, Deacon realizes Molly is eager to experience more, and she looks to him to take her to the darker edge of lust....
The last thing either of them expects is how deeply their lives will be thrown upside down by the passion they find together.

Caged is the fourth book in the Mastered series by Lorelei James. It follows Deacon and Molly as they battle an intense attraction to each other while facing multiple obstacles. James is by far one of my favorite romance authors, she never disappoints. I love how she always manages to keep her stories fresh and her characters dynamic. Even though Caged is part of a series, you can easily pick this book up first and then go back to read the first books without feeling they were spoiled — a rarity for sure.
Molly has had it rough. She’s finally growing into herself after a horrible childhood. Her confidence has come in part from her training at Black Arts. Deacon is an MMA fighter and all around growly alpha man. The chemistry between Molly and Deacon is through the roof, off the charts, hold-on-to-your-panties hot. Don’t get me wrong, the butted heads often enough, but their relationship developed and they grew stronger for the conflicts.
One thing I wasn’t anticipating was how attentive and sweet Deacon was … at first he came across like any other alpha hero, but then he showed a loyalty and depth that made me swoon. Watching him wade through the unfamiliar waters of being in a committed relationship was humorous at times. Other times he needed a good shaking, but that’s par for the course.
Caged is a definite must read. It’s a perfect balance of satisfying romance and conflict. You’ll get a bad boy fighter, a sweet heroine, and a strong group of supporting characters. Five intensely satisfying stars.
