Steering clear of relationships has never been difficult for demolitions expert Cole Bowen, but now, with his brother's engagement sending the female population into full-blown hysterics and the town of Alden's month-long festivities helping along, he finds himself in hell. When he discovers Alden's new resident and the object of all his wet dreams, Christine Sheridan, has sworn off relationships and is going to hire a gigolo to get professionally laid, he decides to kill two birds with one stone.
Christy is so not drinking again. Thanks to José Cuervo she has her friends signing her up for stud conventions and Cole frigging Bowen offering sex in exchange of fake dates, which is so out of the question it isn't even funny. She knows the domineering man will push her boundaries, and after battling all her life with self-esteem issues, she isn't ready for that. Too bad he won't take no for an answer.
Cole is determined to strip away all of her defenses but refuses to lower his ever-present walls, so when Christy realizes she wants more, she's left with only two options; walk away or crack his shield and risk her heart in the process.

Heavy Issues is the second book in the Bowen series by Elle Aycart, this book can be read as a stand-alone. I actually didn’t read book one first and now want to go back to read about Tate and James.
One thing that Aycart exceeds at is her character development, from her main characters to the obscure walk ons, each one has a distinct personality and a purpose in the storyline. She never puts filler just because, and I completely respect that about her as an author.
After catching her fiancé with his *ahem* shoved down her neighbors throat, Christy breaks off the wedding and moves to Alden. During a girls’ night and after copious amounts of alcohol she decides that her ticket to amazing orgasms would be a gigilo. A series of awkward, yet funny events later leads Christy to Cole Bowen, one of Alden’s hottest bachelors.
Cole is a freaking BBF king. Like throw yourself at the throne for another taste of his alpha man goodness. He’s everything you want; bossy between the sheets (really, any surface) and protective, yet sweet out of the sheets. I’m fully on board the Bowen train.(Wow that sounded dirtier than I meant it to.) Well, either way, hook me up to a Bowen or three and I’ll be in book whore heaven.
Something that really hit home for me is how Christy struggles with her self-image. It’s so easy for an author to fall into the poor me side of things when they have a character that has her types of issues, but Aycart highlighted her troubles without making her whiney or pathetic. I have to give props to her for that. It made Christy relatable and had me rooting for her. Maybe even shedding a tear or two because of how real the struggles were.
“The only regretful thing about this whole food situation,” he continued, “is that I won’t get you to suck chocolate syrup from my cock. A loss, true, but not the end of the world. You can make it up to me by letting me lick whipped cream off your nipples.”
Her eyes flashed, and she snorted in amusement. “Honey, you put whipped cream on my boobs, and I’ll be licking them.”
Five brilliant stars for storyline and Five PLUS melt your panties off hotness for smut factor! Another must read from author Elle Aycart.
