Scandal Never Sleeps is the first book in The Perfect Gentlemen by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. I’m a huge fan of these authors, they write amazing romantic suspense novels with erotica thrown in. The moment I saw they had a new series coming out I was on pins and needles waiting for it — millionaire alpha men? Sign me up all day long.
Maddox Crawford is one of Creighton Academy’s Perfect Gentlemen, when his plane crashes questions arise about the circumstances surrounding that crash. Accident or murder? As the remaining Perfect Gentlemen grieve their friend and begin investigating Mad’s death on their own pieces to a puzzle that is so much bigger than they can imagine start to fall into place.
Gabriel Bond is deep in his grief when he meets Everly at a bar after Mad’s funeral. The pair spend an intense weekend together, but Gabe leaves quickly when it comes to an end and Everly is sure he won’t be contacting her again.
I’m not going to go into any further details on how they reconnect, but I’ll tell you that I really hated Gabe. My heart ached for Everly and I was so glad that she kept her backbone and didn’t let him run roughshod over her. There is no denying the pair has chemistry, their weekend proved that without a doubt, and they definitely have sparks throughout the book.
I had some issues with how things between them played out and the storyline in general had so much happening that things got convoluted at times. This book set up the series well though, I’m excited to read about the other characters and find out what really happened to Maddox. Lots of mystery and intrigue mixed into the romance.
