She's sexy, fierce, and a loud-mouthed know-it-all...and she's completely off limits.
Cecilia isn't your typical college student. Hell, she isn't a college student at all, but that doesn't stop her from applying for one of the biggest and prestigious enterprises in the Midwest.
She wants it. She takes it.
She doesn't let anything get in her way when it comes to finding out the truth.
When Bentley Leighton, soon-to-be CEO of Leighton Enterprises, meets "Ceci," he's instantly impressed. He doesn't have time to train a new intern. However, when he sees her that first day, his intentions begin to change.
He's the boss. She's the intern.
Nothing can happen. It's against the company rules.
Then again, rules were made to be broken.
What starts as innocent flirting becomes raveled up into so much more--secrets, lies, deceit.
The Intern, Volume One is the start to a new serial by Brooke Cumberland and I have to admit, probably my favorite thing from her to date. The entire concept of the storyline intrigues me. I love that it isn’t the typical straight romance, there is a level of mystery and a bit of a forbidden desires feel to it.
Cecilia’s father was murdered and the trail to find the killer has long gone cold. She’s not willing to let it go and she’s prepared to do whatever it takes to find the truth, even if that means deceit. Ceci gets an internship at Leighton Enterprises in the hopes of getting details about her father’s case.
Bentley is tasked with acquiring an intern, after the interviews it’s clear the best candidate is the quick-witted Cecilia. She seems more than qualified with the drive to succeed. Not to mention the fact that she was sexy as sin.
When Ceci and Bentley are together the sexual tension between them is almost palpable. And after they give into the attraction? Holy hotness!
“Fuck me, but don’t make love to me.”
Even though this is a serial Cumberland did an excellent job of building up the characters, emotions, and storyline. Normally in the case of a short book I feel jipped, but in this case she gave her readers enough to be satisfied. Don’t get me wrong, I’m chomping at the bit to know what happens next and cursing the heck out of Ceci for what happens in the last scene… I give this one FIVE stars for storyline and FOUR wet panties for smut factor.
